Xiaomi Mi 12S series, in cooperation with Leica, is exclusively available in mainland China
Xiaomi has released the Mi 12S series of mobile phones with an imaging system jointly designed with Leica. After the press conference, Android Authority asked Xiaomi whether the series of mobile phones would be released globally.
Xiaomi reportedly told Android Authority in an email that “Xiaomi will offer the Mi 12S series exclusively in mainland China”. However, Xiaomi also mentioned that the products of future cooperation with Leica will not be limited to this series and will eventually expand to the global product line.
Xiaomi released its imaging flagship tonight, the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra, with the first Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor, priced from 5,999 yuan.
This 1-inch 50-megapixel main camera has a single pixel size of 1.6 microns and a 4 in 1 mode of 3.1 microns. It uses an f/1.9 aperture, an 8p lens, an equivalent focal length of 23mm, and supports OIS image stabilization. The lenses also feature a fully-inked, anti-glare coating to reduce lens flare. Other lenses include a 48MP ultra-wide (IMX586, 13mm equivalent) and a 48MP periscope telephoto (IMX586, 5x/120x, 120mm equivalent).
