iPad Air 5 may use iPad Pro design
The current iPad Air 4 was released in September 2020, making it one of Apple’s first devices with a square design language. The tablet has a smaller frame, no Home button, and the Touch ID sensor has now been repositioned on the device’s power button. However, Apple seems to have planned to upgrade to a newer iPad Air 5 model, which looks more like an iPad Pro.
We have received a lot of rumors about the upcoming iPad models. The latest news comes from the Japanese website Mac Otakara, claiming that the design of the new iPad Air 5 may look more like an 11-inch iPad Pro. According to sources, the new iPad Air may be equipped with the same 10.9-inch display and Touch ID sensor embedded in the power button, but it will get a camera upgrade. The new device might be equipped with a dual-camera setup, including a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle camera. It seems that it can also allow LiDAR scanners to join this package.
Otakara also thinks that the new iPad Air will be equipped with the latest A15 chip, a four-speaker audio system, and 5G millimeter-wave support. The website did not disclose or suggest a possible release date, but previous information stated that we might obtain it early 2022. We also heard that this new model might be equipped with an OLED display but in publications.
However, the Japanese website mentioned that the new iPad mini and the upcoming entry-level iPad look no different from the existing ones. However, it indicates that the only significant change may be an update to the A14 chip and that these models may undergo design changes before 2022 or later.
