Not only iPhone but iOS 15 also brings many features to AirPods. Features such as Conversation Boost help people with mild hearing impairment by transmitting sound to your ears, and notifications that send new notifications directly to your ears are very useful. However, according to 9to5Mac, Apple has added a new feature to AirPods in the iOS 15 update, which can be tracked through Find My—just like AirTags.

Although iOS 15 will allow you to track your AirPods Pro and AirPods Max through the “Precision Find” feature, the latest report claims that the software will also be tracked through Find My. To achieve this, Apple will eventually bind your AirPods to an Apple ID. When the AirPods is not connected to the iPhone via the associated Apple ID, it will send its location to the owner’s Apple ID via “lookup”—just like AirTags works.

The report stated that even if AirPods are connected to another iPhone—they can be paired with the new iPhone using a button on the case— As it will continue to send their location to the owner’s Apple ID.

The report also pointed out that even if AirPods can be tracked through Find My, they will not have an activation lock function. The report said: “It needs to be pointed out that although AirPods are bound to Apple ID, it will not have an activation lock like iOS devices.” The latest iOS 15 beta 5 also explains how to unpair AirPods from an iPhone running iOS 15. Then remove it from the “find” step.

This feature requires AirPods to use the latest firmware and be bound to an iPhone with iOS 15 or later. Apple is currently testing the new AirPods Pro firmware with some developers. The stable version of AirPods and iPhone software should be launched this winter.
