Royole was the first company to launch a foldable smartphone, ahead of its more popular rivals Samsung or Huawei, but decided to stick to the Chinese market, marking its first device as a little-known product outside the domestic market.
Today, it launched a second version, and now it has a better hinge, improved screen, larger diagonal and a lovely price-in line with Royole Flexpai 2.
The unveiling was a follow-up to the event in March when the company CEO Bill Liu introduced a new folding screen. Now we know that Royole hopes that all the specifications, prices and concise features will make Flexpai 2 more attractive than Mate Xs or Galaxy Z Fold2.
Some of these specifications are known-Snapdragon 865, UFS3.0 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. Now, the capacity is displayed-one variant is 8/256 GB, and the other is 12/512 GB, and they are both available for immediate sale.

The screen is a significant improvement for Royole. Flexpai 2 brings a panel that folds out and becomes a dual-screen smartphone when the hinge is at a 180-degree angle. The company calls its technology Cicada Wing 3S, which has “mirror-like smoothness” without any wrinkles after being folded 1.8 million times.
In terms of specifications, we are talking about a 7.8-inch expanded panel with a 4:3 ratio and a resolution of 1440p. After folding, the front side becomes a 16:9 5.5″ screen, and the back side becomes 5.4″ with a ratio of 16:10.
