Apple now offers an annual AppleCare+ plan for new Mac buyers
Apple recently updated its AppleCare+ website to provide new planning services for Mac buyers. The company now offers new Mac buyers an option to purchase AppleCare+ on an annual subscription. Earlier, Apple had offered AppleCare+ as a three-year plan, and users had to pay for a full three years at a time. Now, AppleCare+ can be subscribed for three years, but can be paid annually
New Mac users can sign up for AppleCare+ once a year at the time of purchase or within approximately one month after purchase. Users can get new annual plans through Apple retail stores, online Apple Stores, Apple support apps, and even contact Apple over the phone.

As expected, the cost of AppleCare+ annual subscription will be a little higher than the one-time full payment for three years. As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman pointed out, if you subscribe to the AppleCare+ annual subscription service to buy a 16-inch MacBook Pro instead of a three-year plan, you will end up paying an extra $40. AppleCare+’s annual subscription price for the 16-inch MacBook Pro is $140 per year, while the price of the three-year plan is $380. So you will end up paying an extra $40.
Similarly, for the 13-inch MacBook Air, you will end up paying an extra $10 in three years. The new changes occurred nearly two months after Apple slashed the price of its AppleCare+ plan for its new M1 MacBook.
AppleCare+ service extends the warranty period of Mac. Normally, Macs come with a 1-year limited warranty, but by purchasing AppleCare+, you can extend it to a total of three years-now, by subscribing to a monthly plan after three years, the warranty period is even longer. AppleCare+ services include accidental damage and priority access to Apple Support.
