Fossil today launched Gen 6 smartwatches equipped with Wear OS and a new chipset. This watch has undergone a number of internal upgrades compared to its predecessor and provides better tracking, performance and overall experience.

The new Fossil Gen 6 is equipped with Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset. SoC was released last year, and because of the new structure, it is more efficient and faster. Since the processor is designed to offload tasks from the main processor, it can wake up more quickly and provide continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and other activities.

This smartwatch will be equipped with a 1.28-inch display, 1GB of memory and 8GB of storage space. There is also a speaker, microphone and vibration motor. There are three buttons on the right and a rotating dial. In terms of connectivity, it includes Bluetooth 5.0 LE, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC, and has the usual accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light, gyroscope, compass and isolated infrared. The watch also has a 3ATM waterproof rating.

Compared with the previous Wear 3100 chip that powers many Fossil smartwatches, Qualcomm promises to “enhance performance by 85%” and reduce power consumption by 25%. Fossil also claims that the battery life “based on usage” is 24 hours, and there is also an extended mode that can provide more days on a single charge, but if you choose this mode, many functions will be disabled. In addition, charging for 30 minutes allows you to charge Gen 6 to 80%, which should allow you to wear it at night and quickly charge it before going to work in the morning.

The charging ring has also been redesigned. There are two metal half rings, which are fixed by a plastic bottom cover. This should prevent them from falling out. As mentioned above, the new design also allows faster charging.

The sensor has also been upgraded with a continuous heart rate sensor for tracking to provide more accurate results. SpO2 sensor is also added to track blood oxygen and sleep tracking, as well as many new and improved functions, such as step counting, calorie tracking, etc.
