Sony released the controller for the upcoming PlayStation 5 VR headset
Sony has equipped the PlayStation 5 with a next-generation VR headset. Although we haven’t seen the headset itself, the company did reveal the VR controller that will be included. The controller has a unique “spherical” shape, which Sony says is natural and comfortable, suitable for people with different hands. Many technologies are borrowed from the DualSense controller, but there are also new additions.
The headset will use the “tracking ring” at the bottom of each controller to track the VR controller. In addition, Sony has optimized the tactile feedback system specifically for this size.
Adaptive triggers will further help your immersion – L2 and R2 triggers are lifted directly from the DualSense controller. Because of the use of small motors, they are adaptable, allowing them to have a tension controlled by the game, so each weapon has a different feel.
In addition, the controller will be able to detect your finger through the touch-sensitive area where you place your thumb, index finger, and middle finger.
There will also be regular buttons-each VR controller is like half of DualSense. There is an analog joystick on the left, triangle and square buttons, L1, L2 and “Create” button. The right controller has other analog joysticks, cross and circular buttons, R1, R2 and “option” buttons. L1 and R1 are marked as “grab” buttons, which will be used to pick up items in the game.
The PS5 VR headset will be launched in 2022 at the earliest, so don’t expect to try it soon.
