The long-awaited verification of the third member of the OnePlus 9 series comes from the OnePlus CEO. In an interview with News18, Pete Lau announced that the third device is called OnePlus 9R, which is cheaper than the other two models in the OnePlus 9 series. However, Lau’s statement indicated that this phone will initially only be released in India.

Lau said that compared with OnePlus Nord, the company hopes further to advance the design and technology in OnePlus 9R. OnePlus Nord was launched as a mid-range phone in Europe and India, and an affordable phone in the United States. It is currently unknown where OnePlus will use 9R to calculate the price range. However, Lau’s comments suggest that the phone will be close to the mid-range market.

Lau said that smartphones will provide 5G support, and talked about the 9R gaming experience. The OnePlus CEO stated that the company wants to provide a “fast and smooth experience” for “intensive gaming.” References such as “smooth experience” and “smooth scrolling” indicate that OnePlus will be displayed on the phone at 90 Hz or faster. People believe that the emphasis on gaming experience is marketing rather than hardware.

The Snapdragon 865 processor released last year is expected to become the core of OnePlus 9R. It seems that this may provide an experience that lags behind 2021 gaming phones. In the recently launched Asus ROG Phone 5, the RAM option that comes with the Snapdragon 888 processor can be expanded up to 18 GB. The 144 Hz screen is also one of the functions of the mobile phone.
